After their interrogation on Saturday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of India seized the mobile phones of Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan.
The NCB also seized the mobile phones of Rakul Preet Singh, Jaya Saha, Simone Khambatta, and Karishma Prakash, who is the manager of Deepika.
Sources the anti-narcotics agency said the NCB will clone the phones of Deepika, Sara and Shraddha to access the deleted chats and old WhatsApp groups.
The investigators will also look into the images, videos, documents and chats in other apps for possible leads.
A forensic expert will be guiding the bureau through the process. The NCB plans to submit the cloned data in court.
The decision to employ the cloning methods was taken as the chats on their phones are on end-to-end encryption mode.
The chats retrieved by the NCB from Deepika’s phone where she was seen discussing ‘maal’ and hash were from three years ago.
The changing of cells phones by the actors over a period of past few years makes it almost impossible to retrieve important data.
The agency is reportedly also collecting details of the stars’ credit card transaction of three years and their recipients.
